Providing Quality Childcare

Sandra ´Minds´

Hello my name is Sandra Sheldon, I have been working as a registered childminder since 1994 and have held a level 3 Nursery Nursing qualification for 32 years.

My last Ofsted Inspection took place in June 2010 where I achieved an overall judgement of "Good" with elements of "Outstanding" including the "the extent to which children achieve and enjoy their learning" The inspector also reported that the needs of the children "are met to a high standard" and that the children "show a highly developed sense of belonging", whilst also noting "everything is fun at this setting".

I work from my home in Long Eaton, Nottingham and my setting is close to Junction 25 of the M1 and the A52 for easy access to Nottingham and Derby.

I thoroughly enjoy my work and this is reflected in my enthusiasm and energy. Numerous play resources are available in my setting and ´learning through play´ is constantly in evidence. The children and I have lots of fun together, we participate in many activities, including messy play, visits to toddler groups, outings and so much more. A child’s development is always encouraged and stimulated and the children ´blossom´ in the safe, stimulating environment provided.

My aims are:-

1. To provide quality care in a secure, happy environment.

2. To promote quality learning in a safe and stimulating environment.

3. To encourage each child to reach their full potential showing independance, initiative and an enthusiam to work and play.

4. To praise each child's success at all levels and promote positive behaviour.

5.To provide opportunities for learning and development by providing a broad, balanced and exciting range of activities and resources, both indoor and outdoor.

6. To promote self respect, and respect and consideration for all others including people familiar to the child, in the community and the world.

7. To show by good example.

8. To build positive relationships with the children by listening to the children, making them aware that their views and opinions are important, building their self esteem and confidence. Each child is valued as an individual.

9. To help prepare each child for a positive future.

To have 'fun' together whilst learning through play and experience.

Healthy, varied diets are important to children and I provide a hot nutritious meal daily, either at my home or in cafés and restaurants if we are on an outing. We eat fruit and vegetables every day and children are educated in making healthy choices regarding their diet. Meals and outings are provided at no extra charge and I offer an extremely competitive rate for my service.

I accept Computer Share Voucher Services and Accor Childcare Vouchers.

I have completed all of the training courses required by Ofsted and other additional courses to enhance the service I provide. My first aid training is regularly updated.

Children settle quickly in my setting and develop warm relationships with each other. Everyone is a welcome participant in our busy, enjoyable day. If you would like your child to be part of our fun, giving you ´Peace of Mind´ during your working day, then please do not hesitate to call on (0115) 849 9168.

You can read my full Ofsted report on their website or by clicking here Sorry, but I do not have any vacancies in 2010 or 2011.
