Minutes From May 2011 Meeting

1. Lots for tots ad was shown to members who hadn’t seen it. If anyone has had any enquiries from it please let Faye know.  Also the  bump to five show on Sunday 8th May at the Kedleston road campus of derby university and is organized by the people behind lots for tots magazine so hopefully lots of people will pick up copies. Can we also ask for anyone to volunteer for delivering a few copies of the next magazine to their local primary or toddler group.

2. Sharon Dickinson has offered us a 45 minute music/dance session at a cost of £20 to be held Wednesday 6th july at the Grange surestart room. After discussion at the meeting we have decided that it would not be particularly cost effective for us as the grange is so small. Faye is going to make enquiries to see if we can hold the session at Sawley community hall instead so more of us can access the session and will update everyone at the next meeting.

3. Sharon has also set up 2 story sessions on Wednesday 18th may, one 9.30-11.30am and one 1.00- 3.00pm if you are interested in attending please contact Sharon as she needs to know who and how many are likely to attend. The sessions will be run by a local librarian who will discuss story telling techniques and ways we can promote the library to parents. Children will also have chance to make a bookmark.

4. Is everyone aware that Derbyshire have now clamped down on childminders booking courses for others, this is apparently due to childminders not turning up to courses and then claiming they did not book on them.

5. The family information service has been ringing Childminders for updates to their details, we are still not sure what will happen to this information (if it is being put on a website or given out to parents who make enquiries ect.).

6. Update on sports day/teddy bears picnic- This will take place at West Park on 2nd June at 10am. Can we ask that everyone meets at the field adjacent to the car park next to the leisure centre, so that we can help Gary and Wendy with all the sports day equipment. We will then find an appropriate field to set up in. Teddy bears picnic will then follow so don’t forget your teddy’s and picnics! Cost for both events will be £2 per child.

7. Update on Cleethorpes trip- This trip will take place on Thursday 4th August. Donna is selling seats for this trip on a first come first served basis at £5 per seat. We kindly ask that seats are paid for in advance (they will not be reserved for you until you have done so) and that if you find that you can no longer go or have excess seats it will be your responsibility to sell them on and not Donna’s. Please let Donna know however, if you do transfer your seats to another group member.

8. After another successful trip to Ash End Children’s farm, Faye has been asked to organize another visit for the summer holidays. We are looking at Wednesday 24th August and if there is enough interest we may put a mini bus on. Please express your interest to Faye and we will go from there.

Next meeting will be chaired by Marie at Dot’s house on Wednesday 8th June while Faye has a break to have her baby!

We have also discussed that we hold all subsequent meetings on the first Wednesday of every month, so everyone knows where they are up to.
