About me and my family:
Hello, my name is Louise and I have been minding since April 2004. I have a son called Kyle aged 11, a dog called Sasha and Tropical fish. My Setting:
I have an open plan downstairs area involving a large kitchen/dining area where we undergo all kinds of craft and messy play activities or even just floor play.
I have a separate room for sleeping younger children.
A quiet area for quiet play and reading.
I have a large back garden which includes a variety of areas and learning spaces. Which include a play shed with playground area. A covered area for shelter from the rain and heat of the sun, so the children can still have access to the outside environment. I have a flat area for ride on play toys. And also a grassed area with fruit trees and solar water feature, which the children helped design and install the solar water pump.
Within my setting, the children and I like to grow our own vegetables and fruit, which helps encourage the children to try and eat more fruit and vegetables, thus promoting healthy eating. So with the help of one of my parents I now have a Fantastic raised vegetable patch which will enable the children to grow more varieties of new foods. It has been built to enable all children to have access around it whatever their abilities.
I like to take the children in regards to outdoor play to the surrounding parks and local canal and Attenborough, where myself and the children like to pond dip, look for the different types of birds and feed the birds.
I go to local toddler groups, which helps to promote the children’s social development and skills.
I provide healthy meals, snacks and drinks for the children. I like to get the children involved in the choice of meals and the preparation. I feel this promotes and encourages them to eat well and healthy.
