Faye Ruth Whitehouse

Hi, I'm Faye and I have been working as an Ofsted registered childminder since January 2008 and I have cared for children of a wide age range from 9 months to 10 years. I also cared for my two young nephews for 3 years prior to becoming a childminder.

I live with my partner, Scott and my son Oliver in a quiet cul-de-sac near to Long Eaton town centre. We also have pets, a cat, two guinea pigs and a fish. The children in my care have always been welcome to interact with my pets, if they wish to, under my supervision.

I am insured by Morton Michel (childcare insurance specialists) for my car, my home and my public liability insurance. I am also a member of Morton Michel’s childcare club. I have excellent references written by parents of the children I have cared for and I am always happy to supply copies. At my last Ofsted inspection I was awarded a "good".

My Qualifications

Along with my introduction to home based childcare training, I have a Paediatric First Aid certificate (updated February 2011), Safeguarding Children (basic and advanced) training and I have recently completed EKLAN training (developing speech and language in children under 5) plus I have taken many, many more courses related to childcare. I also hold a BTEC National diploma and a Degree with Honours in a non childcare related subject.

I am enthusiastic about keeping my training up to date and attend courses on a regular basis. I always try to make my training relevant to the needs of the children in my care.

My childcare setting

* I have a large back garden which has been recently been renovated with a play house and a covered decked area for the children.

* In addition to outdoor play in my garden I also make regular trips to the park and to conkers discovery centre, Alvaston Castle and many other places.

* For indoor activities I have lots of toys and games and  I can also provide painting, drawing and making crafts.

* I also try to attend at least two toddler groups a week. I feel this helps the children to get out into the local community and meet other children, which is so valuable in promoting social skills. Many of the children in my care have established firm friendships with other children at the toddler groups I attend.

* I can provide the children with sandwiches, snacks and drinks, and often make fresh fruit smoothies. I also do lots of home baking with the children too.

My Fees and Contact Details

I charge £3.50 per hour but offer significant reductions for full day care and full week care. I can also work evenings and weekends if suitable hours can be agreed. I accept Computer Share Voucher Services and Accor Childcare Vouchers but I would be willing to accept other childcare vouchers, please let me know.
